Join us to explore the ongoing work of XR creator Jessien Huang as he experiments with new forms of museum experience through the Virtual Museum of Virtual Art (VMoVA). In this talk, Jessien will share his continued exploration of the XR medium—from experimental architecture to the creation of a virtual museum that moves beyond the limitations of physical space.

At the heart of this journey is the evolution of the Thickness of Calligraphy exhibition, featuring the beautiful artistry of Chinese calligrapher Boyan. Building on the success of the inaugural 2023 showcase, the new exhibit, "Thickness of Calligraphy - Continuation," presents Boyan’s latest research into 3D calligraphy and his most recent works.

By transforming ancient calligraphic traditions into a dynamic, spatial experience, Jessien and Boyan invite you to engage with art in a social VR environment—bringing people together at the intersection of cultural heritage and innovation, and opening up new possibilities for how we experience art.

Jessien Huang is a prominent Chinese XR artist, director, and curator with an academic background in architecture. He further delved into spatial design and XR storytelling at University College London (UCL), pioneering experimental spatial narrative approaches, including a patented Interactive Redirected Walking algorithm. Devoted to exploring VR narrative language, his VR works have gained international festival honours since 2018. In 2023, he founded the Virtual Museum of Virtual Art (VMoVA) in VRChat to gather avant-garde artists for VR creation research.
