BLOODBATH
Snake Island, February 24 2022, the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A Russian war ship is about to conquer the little slab of land in the Black Sea. However, the island would become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance as local soldiers reacted to the Russian fleet with the now legendary words: “Russian warship, go f* yourself.”
Inspired by this military courage, the 17-year old Ukrainian creator Tim Voronkin, art director Viktoria Lopukhina (Tim’s mother), and producer Oksana Syhareva created a VR experience in VRChat where visitors are invited to make a moral choice, after seeing the events on Snake Island unfold. As it turned out, the team’s vision of what could happen on the island, actually became a reality a few weeks later. Snake Island is now once again under Ukrainian control.
