When COVID hit and we were all ordered to shelter. Artist, Durk van der Meer, wanted to create a comforting virtual space where people could do just that. The result is a cosy virtual garden filled with fantastical plants in social VR platform, VRChat, so anyone can visit, hang out and chill.

HOW TO ACCESS THE WORLD IN VRCHAT

You will need a VR ready PC and a compatible headset such as HTC Vive/Pro/Pro2, Oculus Rift/Rift S, Valve Index or a Windows Mixed Reality headset. Download VRChat on your PC and create an account. Once you’re inside VRChat in your headset, search for ‘Zuikertuin’ in the WORLDS tab or you can launch the world directly through your web browser. Experience the world with friends. This is a multi-player world for up to 80 players.

ABOUT THE CREATOR

Durk van der Meer is a freelance digital artist with a passion for VR. Durk started out as an architectural visualiser and gradually shifted to becoming a virtual world builder, creating levels, characters and other assets for games, animations and installations.
